Allan Rogers Memorial

Sunday April 24th, 1:00PM, the Nevada City Odd Fellows Oustomah Lodge #16 will engage in a traditional Odd Fellows Ceremony honoring the life of our departed brother Allan Rogers. Allan passed on Dec 19th 2020 at the beginning of COVID and at the end of our past Noble Grand’s term. Due to the Pandemic we were not able to honor him in a manner that he so richly deserves. We shall finally be able to do so with a service being held in our temple on Sunday April 24th 2022 at 1:00 PM.
Allan, was a much loved and productive member of our community. He is mostly known for his frame shop, Rogers Picture Framing, a cornerstone business in Nevada City for many years. However, many are unaware that he was very active in numerous aspects of Nevada City and County life. He was instrumental in the preservation of the Nevada Theatre, served on the planning commission of Nevada County, and thankfully, spearheaded the preservation and restoration of the beautiful historic Nevada City Odd Fellows hall temple. A hall that was built in 1873 and had fallen into disrepair. Today it is a marvel to look at and still functions in its original intended purpose; meeting hall for the Nevada City Odd Fellows, all with gratitude to Allan Rogers for that fact. Allan was a dedicated Odd Fellow and truly lived by their tenets upholding Friendship, Love and Truth with all. He was also California Grand Lodge Chaplin. His love of music and singing brought joy to many. He was a foundational member of The Grass Valley Mens Choir designing their logo and jackets, and enjoyed playing the gut bucket with the Buffalo Gals and was an active and loved member of the local Rotary. He was a busy productive and much loved man and Odd Fellow that will be missed by all that knew him. In his honor and by his wishes, we will hold an ice cream social in our dance hall following the ritual ceremony.
In Friendship, Love and Truth
